It is one of the most beautiful and underrated national parks in America. Spend one, two, or five days here exploring the forest, the active volcanoes, trails, and lakes, and you’ll never be bored. You can hike Mt. Lassen Peak by trail. Beware of wildlife and check conditions before you go.

One of our favorite cool-down spots during the hot summer, Whiskeytown Lake is a spectacular spot. Its beaches, marinas, trails, island, waterfalls, hidden coves, and incredible fishing make it an easy bucket-list item.
